Historical Association of Catawba County Professionals*

Photography Policy:

The Historical Association of Catawba County welcomes photographers at each of our locations (Catawba County Museum of History, Murray’s Mill Historic District, Harper House/Hickory History Center, and the Bunker Hill Covered Bridge). Please note that site closures for maintenance and special events will prevent access to the property.

An annual “Photography Membership” is required at $100 per year. This membership allows you to access only the grounds of all properties and does not guarantee inside access. A copy of this waiver will be kept for the duration of said membership and is applicable at all HACC properties for the length of the membership. If you would prefer to purchase a one-day site usage, passes may be purchased for $60 per day. Staff may or may not be present during your usage of the property, as such, your membership card should be with you in the event you need to show your lawful presence. You are required to notify us of your intended usage to confirm property availability for the day in question. If you are interested in photography inside any of our locations, staff must be present and must be scheduled when they are available. Please note that flash photography is not allowed inside of the historic Harper House. Additionally, the barn located at Murray’s Mill is private property and is off-limits for all photography. Property fixtures may not be relocated. Items such as trash cans may be moved but must be returned after the session. Use of decorative items is contingent upon cleaning to be conducted by the photographer (i.e., confetti/glitter). Those who do not adhere to these guidelines or damage HACC or private property will have their membership forfeited, and photography privileges will be revoked.

HACC will not be liable for any equipment damage or personal injuries incurred by photographers/models/subjects, and photographers/subjects are responsible for any damages to any HACC property.

We invite you to submit your favorite photos taken on property to be included in our online gallery.

*Professional implies any photographer who receives compensation for their time or photos.

WAIVER:

I HEREBY ASSUME ALL OF THE RISKS OF PHOTOGRAPHING ON ANY HACC PROPERTY including by way of example and not limitation, any risks that may arise from negligence or carelessness on the part of the persons or entities being released, from dangerous or defective equipment or property owned, maintained, or controlled by them, or because of their possible liability without fault. I acknowledge that this Accident Waiver and Release of Liability Form will be used by the property owners to serve as protection from injuries to myself and any photography models. This waiver also holds me responsible to any damage to the property in which I am present. In consideration of my application and permitting me access, I hereby take action for myself, my executors, administrators, heirs, next of kin, successors, and assigns as follows: (A) I WAIVE, RELEASE, AND DISCHARGE from any and all liability, including but not limited to, liability arising from the negligence or fault of the entities or persons released, for my death, disability, personal injury, property damage, property theft, or actions of any kind which may hereafter occur at HACC property. (B) I INDEMNIFY, HOLD HARMLESS, AND PROMISE NOT TO SUE the entities or persons mentioned in this paragraph from any and all liabilities or claims made as a result of participation in this activity or event, whether caused by the negligence of release or otherwise. I acknowledge that the HACC and their directors, staff, and volunteers are NOT responsible for the errors, omissions, acts, or failures to act of any party or entity conducting a specific event or activity on behalf of HACC. The accident waiver and release of liability shall be construed broadly to provide a release and waiver to the maximum extent permissible under applicable law. I CERTIFY THAT I HAVE READ THIS DOCUMENT, AND I FULLY UNDERSTAND ITS CONTENT. I AM AWARE THAT THIS IS A RELEASE OF LIABILITY AND A CONTRACT AND I SIGN IT OF MY OWN FREE WILL.
