Soldiers and Scribes: Catawba County in the Civil War
The exhibit, housed in a first floor gallery of the museum, is based upon letters and correspondences in the CCHA’s archives from soldiers native to Catawba County who fought in the Civil War. The letters and associated artifacts display the daily life of the soldier in camp, the impact of disease and injury on the troops, requests for food and clothing from home, instruction for the management of family business and farms they left behind, as well as the struggles and sacrifices faced by both the soldiers and those on the home front. The exhibit will be available through December 2011.
