The CCHA is giving the community a deeper look into the history of automobile racing in Catawba County. An exhibit exploring the history of racing’s roots in the moonshining trade through the current racers seen today is now housed in the lower level of the Boniwell-Lyerly House (Hickory History Center).
The exhibit is now open to the public and showcases the huge impact racing has had in our county over the years. It includes an overview of the background of what we now know of as NASCAR, and the legendary drivers that have once called Catawba County “home”. This isl also in conjunction with Hickory Motor Speedway celebrating its 60th year of racing.
The exhibition will be open to the public, on Thur - Sat. from 9 am to 4 pm and Sunday 1:30 to 4:30 pm, until October of 2012. Please contact Site Manager, Michelle Palmore with questions regarding the exhibition at (828) 324-7294 or by email at palmoreccha@gmail.com.
